Jogging results - May 2009

Here is a chart of my jogging results of May 2009. If I just ran 5 km than I doubled the time and added 20% on top of the result. The bad result at 20. until 23. May is caused by my aking toe.

Donate money for underprivileged children in Nepal

I decided to use our trip to collect money for poor children in Nepal. We want to donate that money to the "Sunrise Children's Association INC" (www.scai.org.au) SCAI is a young and dynamic charity, established in Australia in July 2005 by three local women with a mission to provide a brighter future to impoverished children and youth in Nepal. It now cares for over seventy children at Sunrise Orphanage in Nepal, who may have otherwise faced a bleak future of starvation, poverty, slavery, trafficking, being forced into armed conflict, or simply end up on the streets of the increasingly crowded Kathmandu. A video of the SCAI is on the right side! Just 20 EUR per month are enough to cover the basic needs of one child. We are happy about every amount you can give. Ralf and I will visit the location of SCAI in Kathmandu and hand over the money personally. Contact me at christian@theisen.net and tell me the amount you would like to donate. I will put you on a donators list.

My pal Ralf

Ok, time to introduce my pal and business partner Ralf. He gave me the trip as a gift to my 38. birthday and he is the one who will take care of me in the Himalaya.

Photography

Spiegel online has some tipps for shooting photos in the mountains (tnx Ozan): Click here to go to the article I still have to buy some camera equipment for the trip, e.g. a tripod (Stativ), a wide-angle lens (Weitwinkelobjektiv) and some filters. I also want to buy a solar cell to recharge the iPhone.

Problems with my toe

Today I tried to run 10 Km again, but I had to give up at 8,3 Km, because my toe was aking too much. Actually it is not really the toe. I have pains since several days. Maybe I have to go to a doctor. Damn!

Booked & confirmed

I just booked the trip. Start is September, 18th, and the journey lasts 22 days. So we return at October, 10th. Did I already mention that the whole trip is a gift by my dear old friend Ralf. He will join me. I always dreamed of that tour but I wasn't courageous enough to do it. That's what friends are for. Thanks a lot, pal.

Physical preparation

To be better prepared I started a more intensive fitness training. Today I ran the first time 10 km (since my school days). My time: 57.30 Min. - not a best time, but for a beginner good enough. Besides the Himalaya trip I want to run a Marathon in the next year.

General Information

At first some information about the tour: My friend Ralf will join this ride. The chance that at least one of us returns is much higher then :) Our first stop will be Kathmandu in Nepal. The tour will long 22 days and is medium difficult. The highest point which we will reach is the Mount Everest Base Camp at about 5.550 meters. That's the highest point they allow such beginners as we are to climb. No chance to get higher. For this time :)

Creation of this blog

Dear Friends, I look forward to this upcoming trip very much. It will truly be a challenge. But first I must understand how to use that modular blog system. I want to give you a lot of information about my journey. Best regards Chris
